Starvation Ahoy is a mod that aims to add a bit of difficulty to the game by modifying the feeding process. As you know, predefined players can eat even raw meat to feed themselves. With this mod installed, after getting the food we will have to treat them to be able to consume them.

For example, if we kill an animal to get its meat, we can not eat it raw, or pass it through the oven, before we have to hang, skin the animal and then cook it, as we can see in the image below. The same will happen with vegetables, we will not be able to eat them directly, if not we will have to wash them first.
This mod adds in several new mechanics to Minecraft’s food system, from washing crops to hanging and skinning animals.
Processing Meat
Killing any mob that normally drops meat will now result in a carcass of that animal being dropped. The animals must be hung on a Meat hanger and skinned with a filet knife, after which they can be chopped down with a butcher’s knife. To finish (and gain the cooked meat), one must construct a spit-roast (two Spit Roast Stands, two blocks away, click on with a stick) and place a skinned animal on it. After the animal finishes cooking, it will change color, too much cooking and it will be burnt. Cut off the cook animal with a butcher’s knife to receive your cooked meat!
Cleaning Your Crops
Crops are notorious for coming out of the ground with dirt. The fastest way to clean them is to construct a Wash Barrel, fill it with water and right-click the crops on it. This will remove the dirt and give you a healthier meal.
Utilities
The mod has three extra components to it:
- Badcholo’s Brew – Instant -2 food levels
- Health Tracking Armor- Ability to display any food’s restore values as well as player’s current saturation level
- Command: /sa <item> [new hunger value] [new Saturation value] – allows player the ability to set food levels, as well as to transfer the levels to others (via a file created in the configs)
Manual Install Instructions
Download Forge above.
Open the Forge installer, choose Install Client, and click OK.
Download Starvation Ahoy Mods and save it to your desktop.
Windows
Press this button combination: Windows+R
In the window that appears, type %appdata% and press Enter.
Open the .minecraft folder.
Locate the mods folder. If it doesn’t exist, create it (do not capitalize anything).
Drag Starvation Ahoy into the mods folder. If given the opportunity, do not extract them.
Start your Minecraft launcher, change your profile (bottom-left dropdown box) to Forge, and play!
Mac OS
Press this button combination: ?-Shift-G
Type in ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft and press Enter.
Locate the mods folder. If it doesn’t exist, create it (do not capitalize anything).
Drag Starvation Ahoy into the mods folder. If given the opportunity, do not extract them.
Start your Minecraft launcher, change your profile (bottom-left dropdown box) to Forge, and play!
