To interact with the world around you, your character has nine slots always accessible and can be occupied by different items or blocks. These are the nine compartments forming a line at the bottom of your screen and from which you can select one item at a time, which is then in your main hand and ready to use. The “hotbar”, also called “toolbar” or “quick access bar” is an extension of your inventory containing twenty-seven slots and from which you can modify the elements contained in the hotbar and thus adapt to the situation. During your games, you are often required to vary your activities and needs, such as when you are in the middle of construction, or combat, exploration. Between tools and blocks, nine slots is not much.

We have recently experienced a marked improvement in our penguin condition with the arrival of the secondary hand, as useful for holding a shield, a torch or a pickaxe. Even if this new feature raises the number of slots to ten, one or two more toolbars would not hurt, and for that there is the mod Multi-Hotbar rolandoislas.
This mod allows you very simply to have an unlimited number of toolbar, while preserving you from anarchy and the surplus of information.
shortcuts
Once installed, Multi-Hotbar offers two toolbars of nine slots. With the wheel of your mouse, you can move the cursor from one hotbar to another, as if they were linked, in a loop. This cursor which – depending on the toolbar on which it is located – defines the active quick access bar, an important notion to use the different shortcuts:
- It is this bar that you have displayed when you go to your inventory to change the contents of the hotbar.
- It is in this toolbar that are placed the elements that you pick up or that you “poke” with the function pickblock.
- For example, you can decide to remove all toolbars except the active one. You will then move the cursor to the quick access bar that you want to keep in view, then click on the button defined in your controls for the “Show Default Hotbar” function.
Another very useful shortcut is based on the numbers on your keyboard, which allow you to quickly switch from one slot to another. With Multi-Hotbar, clicking twice on the “3” key, for example, allows you to go successively to the slots 3 of your different toolbar.
Adjustments
Now that you’re familiar with the shortcuts, you can customize Multi-Hotbar to add and remove features to optimize your use. All of this happens in the edit menu of the mod (Menu pause> Options of the mod …> Mutli-Hotbar> Config). To activate an option, switch the button to “true”, otherwise leave it in “false”..
- Stacked Hotbars: Gather all your toolbars in the center of the screen and in one column.
- Number of Hotbars: The number of hotbar to display.
How to install:
Start by downloading Forge Installer, multihotbar-1.12.2-3.1-build-T85.jar . Once this is done, open it and click Install Client.
Launch Minecraft and select the Forge profile. Enter your credentials again and click Play to complete the installation of Forge.
Then find your .minecraft folder:
Windows: Go to the Start menu, then go to Run. Otherwise, press Windows + R key. Then type% appdata% in the search bar, then go to the .minecraft folder.
Linux: Press ALT + F2 at the same time. You should normally have your .minecraft.
If you do not see it, activate hidden folders with the CTRL + H combination.
Mac: Your minecraft folder is in User> Library> Application Support.
If you can not find Application Support, do Finder> Menu Bar: Go + Hold ALT> Library.
Then drag the .jar from your previously downloaded mod into the mods folder, which is in your .minecraft.
Start the game, and have fun!
