During your build sessions in creative mod, you have surely encountered the problem of the inertia of the fly: when you are launched in the air to put your blocks high, your character tends to advance a few meters further while you have stopped pressing the key to “walk”. You are then forced to compensate by backing up to stop at a specific location. In addition, the movements are sometimes long between your different structures and you need to change gears quickly. DaFlight is an open-source mod allowing you to remove this inertia and enjoy increased speed and control, all automatically and very simply, with customizable shortcuts.
Once the mod installed – I recommend you read the installation instructions, very simple, but different from the usual procedure – four keys allow you to access all the features offered by the mod. Your movements will then be more fluid and more precise.
First you have to differentiate between two modes of fly:
- The normal fly: usual commands, inertia when stopping in flight, land on the ground stop the fly.
- The fly “controlled”: specific commands and orientation (more information in the second part of the article), no inertia, the flight can be stopped only by pressing the key (you can land on the ground and leave immediately).
To switch from one flyover mode to another, use the “F” key. Changing mode in the air will make you fall, unless you re-press fast enough. If you land on the ground in “fly controlled”, you can immediately re-take off with the key to go up, it is a permanent flyer and very dynamic.
Once that is understood, we will talk about speed. You have to differentiate three states of displacement:
- Normal state: you move at a normal speed in flight and on the ground.
- Sprint status (“R” key): affects your ground speed and jumps (so “controlled fly” off), only. You move according to certain parameters that you can define in the parameters of the mod (more information in the second part of the article). Your jumps can then evaluate to several hundred blocks, pay attention to your configuration. Re-pressing “R” stops any jump in progress: you fall back perpendicular to the ground.
- Boost status (“X” key): The previous settings are multiplied by the “Boost” settings. Be careful, the change is immediate and you are once again exposed to finding them in the stratosphere..
Setting
The tools offered by DaFlight can be set to suit your needs. The basic key to access the menu below is “F9”. To exit this menu, use the “Esc” key. Re-pressing “F9” after making changes in the settings cancels these changes.
Here is a list of the different options:

- Mod: Allows you to enable / disable the DaFlight mod.
- Hud: Hide or not the different information delivered about your moves, on the upper left corner of your screen.
- Speedometer: Displays or not the speed in block / second on the upper left corner of your screen.
- FOV: Activates or not a visual effect to better appreciate the speeds in flight.
- Flight Mode:
- 3D: You move according to the movement of your cursor.
- Normal: You move according to the keys pressed.
- Server config: Allows you to adapt the mod for use on servers.
- Tuning
- Fly Speed: Determines the base fly speed (Normal state).
- Fly Boost: Determines the increase of base fly speed (Boost State).
- Sprint Speed: Determines the basic ground speed (Normal state).
- Sprint Boost: Determines the increase in ground speed (boost state).
- Jump Edit: Determines the height of your jumps (Sprint state, stronger in “Boost state”).
- Ascend Modify: Regulates the speed of going up / down in fly (Normal state, stronger in “Boost state”)
- Binds: Allows you to modify the keys assigned to all the features of the mod, to remove or not the automation (Toggle, which allows you to not need to hold the key).
This mod modifies the gameplay of Minecraft and is not tolerated on some multiplayer servers: its use is punishable by a ban. You are solely responsible for the use of this mod.
