Social inequalities are an integral part of our society, and despite political efforts, some countries still remain very heterogeneous and the categories “poor” and “rich” are found to be very separate. It seems that everything has been done on the subject, and yet Squity arrives with Architecture Contrast, a map that denounces the glaring contrast between these two social categories.
The idea can even go further if one assumes that the city represented in two parts is on one side “rich” and the other “poor”. Indeed, here we find perfectly the idea of the North-South Conflict with one side the industrialized countries and the other developing.
Architecture Contrast represents wealth through advanced technology and highly futuristic colors such as blue and gray. The merchant boats making come and go shows us once more that this part of the city is very evolved at the socio-economic level. On the other side of this futuristic world we find an architecture similar to that of the old American civilizations. The warm, dominant colors recall the heat and the difficulty of living in arid environments, where most of the poor countries are located.
Looking at these constructions we take a real slap, the contrast is very marked and makes you think for a long time. Architecture Contrast plays on the emotion it produces. Seeing the harshness of this inequality in this way literally reflects on our lives and the chance we have to live in industrialized countries, making us take a different look at the world.
