Lakandahar Maps 1.9

History has a very important place in the Minecraft community. Indeed, several competitions show constructions related to historical events or popular monuments. But what about the originality of our dear builders? Originally based on the replica of a ziggurat in Minecraft, Lakandahar represents the perfect alliance between history and a man’s imagination.

Phoenic, passionate about history, wanted to reproduce one of these famous Mesopotamian religious buildings, a ziggurat, in Minecraft. First built on the Xbox version of the game, Phoenic thought bigger and wanted to create an entire city around the monument. The import for the computer version was done and the Lakandahar project was born. Because the city is not just a city created for the pleasure of being seen, Phoenic has also invented a complete story around the ancient kingdom. Return in 293 AD and discover an ancient city and its millennial history.

The city was part of the Roman kingdom of Lakandahar, a colony of the Roman Empire, which, unlike the others, had much more freedom: the kings were elected and there was even a local assembly, the Minadiga, which had origins dating back to the fourth millennium BC AD

The kingdom was established in today’s Syria and partly in Mesopotamia, and was founded in 3792 BC, when King Lakandahar (who would have given his name to the city) was elected governor of the Lacandrines (name inhabitants of the kingdom). Alexander the Great was buried in the city.

This is the very last year of the kingdom’s life, since a traitor of the Lacandrines, Titus Iustinus Sebastus, who before was king, decided in 291 to become general of the Roman emperor Diocletian. He reportedly attacked the city of Lakandahar in 293, killing the last king, Quintus Modius, and ending the millennial reign.

The city is composed of several monuments, from the Ziggurat to Roman and Greek temples like the one dedicated to Alexander the Great, but also mausoleums, parks, an acropolis or a naumachie. As said above, Phoenic aimed great and did not stop at the mere map of visit; Lakandahar contains many secrets. You will then have the pleasure to venture through the city to find dungeons or hidden places to explore in survival.

The constructions are incredible despite the fact that they are not very detailed, their advantage is to stick very well with the theme of Mesopotamia Antique. It really feels like walking in the streets of a Roman city during the Pax Romana and the structures reflect perfectly the warmth of the region.

To conclude, I would say that Lakandahar is one of the best tour map known to date, just for its originality and its perfect integration into history. It’s up to you to decide if she deserves this place …
