In the seventeenth century, and more precisely from September 2 to 5, 1666, the city of London is the prey of the flames. These ravage the city inside its Roman wall and threaten the Westminster district and the palace of Whitehall, the residence of King Charles II, without reaching them. This most violent fire also burns the famous Saint Paul’s Cathedral. Inspired by the collections of the London Museum, the map Great Fire 1666: The Fire of London allows you to discover in detail the causes of this terrible event.

The Fire of London is the second map of the Great Fire trilogy 1666. It is preceded by a similar first map showing London before the fire and succeeded by a third, representing the famous British city after the tragedy. At the center of this incredible educational project are the BlockWorks team, digital influencer Adam Clarke and the game designer Dragnoz under the direction of the Museum of London.

The Fire of London has many challenges that will help you better understand this historic event. You will live each day of the Great Fire of London intensely through a series of mini-games. Among them, you will try somehow to save St. Paul’s Cathedral from the flames, while helping the Londoners you meet on your way, like Samuel Pepys, who will need a little help to bury and to shelter from the flames its resources. Your first mission will require you to find an escape route to escape from your home that seems to ignite slowly. During your adventure, you will meet famous Londoners of the time, including Thomas Farriner, the mayor of London, and King Charles II! You will discover the tumultuous daily life of these British during these dark days. In summary, the task looks daunting, because you will also rebuild the city after the fire with the help of the mayor and citizens!
