Minecraft is often criticized for its aesthetics, “pixilated squares, what interest?”. Indeed the resolution of vanilla textures is relatively small: 16 pixels for a block whose size is around the cubic meter, it is little. Imagine yourself in a universe where each shade of color translates into a square of about 6 centimeters. That’s about what you feel when you play Minecraft for the first time! This rendering, sometimes described as rude, has its charm, however, that many players would not change for anything in the world, just look at Minecraft sales statistics to be convinced.
Cubix keeps the pixelated look of Minecraft Vanilla using the same 16x resolution. The pack brings a new atmosphere, fresher and friendly. The textures are smoother and less aggressive: this will result in a game of appeasement, reinforced by the palette of pastel colors, preferred by the author. So when you walk in your world, you will forget this frustrating feeling given by an environment with flashy and redundant colors. The textures of the Cubix make disappear the grid recurring that provoke the blocks of grass or rock in Vanilla thanks to their more harmonious textures. The biomes also keep their respective moods, the forests give off a welcoming atmosphere, and on the opposite a feeling of insecurity reigns in caves, abandoned mines or the Nether. Finally, the pack reshapes your inventory by giving it a lighter, more sober, more square, more effective look.
A last notable point: the low resolution of the pack allows everyone to use it, without slowing down.
Cubix is in progress, and some textures are likely to change, while many others will soon see the light of day. However, this will not interfere with the gaming experience as the missing textures are mostly those of items and creatures, which have the same resolution as the basic game.
