Many Minecraft mods add content to the game, or make it easier to play, or automate simple tasks like gathering resources and chopping wood. Sometimes, you get mods which are more or less useless. The Portable Craft Bench is one of those mods that just make you wonder why the person who made it would go to all the trouble in the first place. By combining a crafting bench with a piece of string, you can make a portable bench that you can carry with you. This allows you to craft your items on the go, without forcing you to go back to your home or base to do so.

Since you can already just carry a crafting bench on your person when you’re traveling, there’s really no reason for this mod to even exist. That said, it does work, and there aren’t really any bugs or issues to report on for the Portable Craft Bench mod. Still, because it’s so easy to just carry a table on you anyhow (and this mod doesn’t eliminate the need to carry the table with you, either) you might as well just ignore this one. It’s not going to do anything new for you or free up any inventory space.
There’s really nothing good to say about this mod. If you’re a collector of sorts, you might want to pick it up just to say you have it, but there is literally no reason to play Minecraft with this mod installed. It saves you no room, it simplifies nothing, it adds no useful items to the game and on top of all that, it’s extraneous software – you don’t need it at all. There are plenty of other, better mods out there which beef up crafting tables, like Just Another Crafting Bench. Try that before this and you’ll see why the Portable Craft Bench mod is junk.
How to install:
- Download Forge Installer, portablecraftbench-1.11.2-1.5.1.jar file.
- Right click Forge Installer, Run as Administrator and press OK to install Forge. (You can skip this step if you’ve installed Minecraft Forge)
- Open Start on desktop > Open Run (Or you can use the Windows + R keyboard shortcut)
- Type %appdata% into Run and press enter.
- Go to folder /.minecraft/mods
- Put jar file of the mod you have downloaded into mods folder and then run Minecraft. Done!
